Events: Mid-South Sculpture Alliance conference, TechsmARTs on how arts-goers use social media

The 3-day conference will feature a wide range of indoor and outdoor exhibitions, workshops, demonstrations, speakers and panels.

Among them:

•Keynote address by Joseph Becherer, founding director and curator of the Sculpture Program at Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

•Lecture by Joyce J. Scott, Baltimore-based artist, sculptor, quilter, installation artist and educator.

•Panel discussion, “Atlanta Infrastructure and Public Art: What Are the Possibilities?”

•Masters Award Dinner honoring sculptor and Georgia State University Emeritus Regent’s Professor George Beasley, the force behind GSU’s sculpture department for many years.

C4 Atlanta and the Office of the Arts at Georgia Tech announce a new partnership to continue TechsmARTs, a program of discussion focused on the intersection of arts and technology. Its next program, Boomers, Xers and Millennials, will explore how arts patrons across generations use social media. Panelists: Gregory Burbidge, Atlanta Regional Commission; Veronica Kessenich, Executive Director, Atlanta Contemporary Art Center; Chelsea Steverson, Operations Manager, C4 Atlanta; Diana Toma, artist.
