Dashboard Co-op, a two-year-old organization that promotes emerging artists, has announced its roster for 2013. Hailing from Atlanta, New Orleans and New York, they are Bethany Collins, Stephanie Dowda, Mike Black, Kelly O’Brien, Charlie Watts, Mike Stasny, Ben Coleman, Andrew Hammond, Pablo Gnecco, Heather Greenway, Luke Hayes and Kyle Bravo.
In addition to the interviews and images it presents on its website, Dashboard, conceived and run by Courtney Hammond and Beth Malone, will mount a group exhibition for the artists. As in the past, the exhibition site is chosen with an eye to activating an unlikely neighborhood. “Boom City — 12 Artists // One Floor,” opening February 2, 2013, will take place in southwest Atlanta.
The nonprofit group is one of the five Atlanta organizations chosen by the Rauschenberg Foundation for its new SEED grants. “Aside from audience experience, our biggest concern is the execution of our shows,” Malone says. “The Rauschenberg grant will certainly help us turn a vacant warehouse in downtown Atlanta into an unforgettable exhibition space. We’ve done it before, but this time, we can actually hire some help.”
